The number that identifies a computer or server on the internet. DNS turns names like google.com into IP addresses so your browser knows where to connect.
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a numeric label assigned to each device on a network. IPv4 addresses look like 192.0.2.1; IPv6 are longer. DNS translates domain names to IP addresses so you don’t have to remember numbers.
